Only a couple spots left in Trace the Stars anthology

Posted on March 21, 2018 - July 5, 2018 by Joe

For those of you who don’t know, I’m co-editing Trace the Stars, a hard science fiction and space opera benefit anthology. We’ve added a couple new authors, and there are only (maybe) two spots left, so if you want to submit a story, please do so soon (see the call for submissions for details). The new authors have been bolded in the list below. We are already at about 92,000 words, so this is pretty close to the final roster:

(listed alphabetically)

  • Kevin J. Anderson
  • Beth Buck
  • Jaleta Clegg
  • David Farland
  • Daniel Friend
  • Nancy Fulda
  • Paul Genesse
  • M.K. Hutchins
  • Wulf Moon
  • John M. Olsen
  • Emily Martha Sorensen
  • Eric James Stone
  • Eric G. Swedin
  • Sandra Tayler
  • Julia H. West
  • James Wymore
  • …with possibly one or two more to be announced

LTUE 2018, days 2-3

Posted on February 18, 2018 - February 18, 2018 by Joe

The second day at LTUE was quite relaxed. I didn’t have any panels I was on, so I relaxed and chatted with friends. It was good to catch up with Jessica Douglas, Kaitlund Zupanic, M. Todd Gallowglas, and others. I finally got to meet Sarah A. Hoyt and Todd McCaffrey, too.

On the third day, I hosted the LTUE Benefit Anthology Preview, where we unveiled the cover art for the upcoming Trace the Stars anthology. You can see the post about it here. The cover image is attached to this post. I’m looking forward to accepting the last few stories we need (with my co-editor, Jaleta Clegg) and releasing it next year at the symposium so everyone else can read the stories, too.

Mormon Steampunk call for submissions

Posted on February 7, 2018 - February 7, 2018 by Joe

Since I know a lot of authors who write things like this (and because Dave and James are awesome), I’m boosting the signal for this. This anthology will be published through Immortal Works. You can read more about the specifics over on Dave’s blog. I plan to submit a story.

Trace the Stars – January update

Posted on January 26, 2018 - January 30, 2018 by Joe

We received quite a few submissions for the Trace the Stars benefit anthology we (myself and Jaleta Clegg) are putting together. We have winnowed the first batch down to the 11 we want to use, which fills up about three-quarters of the planned available space in the anthology.

Since this is the first one we are doing, we didn’t know how quickly we would fill up, so we set the submission deadline to July 31, 2018. It looks like we may very well fill it up long before that deadline. The accepted stories are all different and will make a solid anthology.

If you want a sneak peak, please come to the anthology preview on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 6pm in the Boardroom at the Provo Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. We will reveal the cover art and many of the authors whose stories will be included. You can see more details on the event here.

I’ve known Bobbie for years. She’s an awesome artist and will bring a lot to this panel. David is a fun guy, a great author, and also knows his stuff. Devon is an amazing sculptor and artist. We are planning to make this panel very informative, so please come and learn about one of the best science fiction, fantasy, and horror artists around.
